Do you have specific favorite lines from specific songs? Take a look at my top 10!
1. OASIS – Don’t Look Back in Anger
“So, I start a revolution from my bed…”
I wake up every morning with this powerful spell!
2. JOHN RZEZNIK (the singer of Goo Goo Dolls) – I’m Still Here
“I am a question to the world,
not an answer to the earth…”
This sentence is too contemplative that I adopted it as my blog tagline.
3. SILVERCHAIR – The Greatest View
“I’m watching you watch over me
and I’ve got…
the greatest view from here!”
Always love hopeless romantic lyrics in a powerful rock song.
4. SUEDE -Trash
“Because we’re trash, you and me
We’re the litter on the breeze
We’re the lovers on the streets…”
Also love the way how britpop defines ‘love’.
5. TRAIN – Drops of Jupiter
“Now that she’s back in the atmosphere with drops of Jupiter in her hair…”
Probably the best metaphor I’ve heard in a modern song.
6. DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE – The Tourist
“If you feel just like a tourist in the city you were born,
It’s time to go…
and define your destination
there’s so many different places to call ‘home’.”
Such a perfect song for traveling… and homecoming…
7. GLEN HANSARD & MARKETA IRGLOVA – Lies
“So plant the thoughts and watch it grow.
Wind it up and let it go.”
It’s the closing lines from one of the most heartbreaking songs I’ve ever heard.
8. SNOW PATROL – Signal Fire
“In the conclusion and the aftermath, you are my signal fire
The only resolution and the only joy
is the faint spark of forgiveness in your eyes.”
Please teach me how to arrange such captivating words!
9. RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS – Californication
“Space may be the final frontier but it’s made in a Hollywood basement
Oh, Cobain, can you hear the spheres singing songs from station to station
And Alderaan’s not far away,
Perhaps it’s the sharpest social criticism I have heard in a song. How the world is westernized by Hollywood.
10. GREENDAY – Church on Sunday
“If I promise to go to church on Sunday,
Will you go with me on Friday night?
If you live with me, I’ll die for you
I will compromise!”
Again, even a punk rock song can offer a cute romantic lyric!
Now, it’s your turn. Tell me what’s yours!
